Chen-Style Tai Chi and Chinese Philosophy
Yun Chen carries on the Chen-style Taijiquan tradition as a 13th-generation inheritor. Chen-style Taijiquan remains one of the oldest and most respected Tai Chi lineages in China. Now based in Ringwood, Victoria, Yun teaches with a deep respect for tradition while helping modern students experience the benefits of Tai Chi.
People created Taijiquan nearly 400 years ago. Today, many people know the practice simply as Tai Chi. Chinese philosophy shaped the foundations of Tai Chi through the principles of Taiji and the balance between yin and yang.
Practitioners first developed Tai Chi as a martial art. Over time, the practice evolved into a mindful form of movement that combines breathing, focus and slow flowing motion.
Today, people around the world practise Tai Chi to support balance, flexibility, mindfulness and overall wellbeing. The practice also maintains strong links to Traditional Chinese Medicine and holistic wellness traditions.
UNESCO-Recognised Tai Chi Practice
UNESCO recognises Taijiquan as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Communities around the world celebrate the practice for both its cultural importance and wellness benefits.
Each year, World Taijiquan Day takes place on 21 March during the spring equinox. The event represents harmony, renewal and balance.
Yun Chen traces his lineage directly to Grand Master Chen Qingzhou. UNESCO also recognises Grand Master Chen Qingzhou on its official Taijiquan register.
