The fruit for the 2017 Inara Shiraz grown on the gentle slope of our vineyard. The grapes were harvested at perfect ripeness before crushing and immediate inoculation for fermentation. A slow fermentation was carried out at moderate temperatures between 24 and 28oC with careful cap management to ensure extraction of fine tannins. This wine is testimony to the idea that great wine is made in the vineyard. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, the wine was oak aged for 4 months prior to early bottling and release.
Tasting note: The 2017 Inara Shiraz has classic cool climate spice and black pepper with lovely fresh plum fruit. The oak ageing has added aromas and flavours of vanilla and sweet spice. Beautifully mouth filling with fine, round tannins, the wine is rich and complex.
The 2017 Inara Shiraz can be enjoyed on its own but would be delicious with smoky, spicy barbequed pork ribs.
