In an attempt to show the strength of both of these varieties, this wine was carefully blended to ensure both varieties show their true strength in their own right; the Cabernet gives the skeleton and structure, and the Merlot puts the flesh on the bone. As each variety is as important as the other to the blend, it is very close to being a 50/50 blend.
The appearance is crimson. Layered aromas of tobacco leaf, oak spice, red plum, anise and rich black forest cake fill the glass. The palate exhibits blackcurrant, choc-mint and tobacco leaf. Lovely building tannin seamlessly move around the mouth to prelude a long flavoursome finish which consists of raspberry, cinnamon, nutmeg with nuances of toasty oak subtly woven through.
Enjoy this wine with an old-style beef wellington and a green salad.
