The equinox traditionally marks the beginning of spring across many parts of Europe. However, long before European settlement in the Yarra Valley, local seasons followed the rhythms of the land, rivers and waterways.
This spring dining experience at Helen & Joey Estate celebrates the arrival of the new season with estate wines, seasonal food and relaxed vineyard hospitality.
People once knew this period as the season of the tadpole. As temperatures warmed, rivers and wetlands filled with life while fishing flourished throughout the region.
At Helen & Joey Estate, our vineyard sits within this vibrant Yarra Valley landscape where water, nature and the changing seasons continue to shape life in the vineyard.
A Spring Dining Experience in the Yarra Valley
To celebrate the beginning of the grape growing season, we hosted a special spring afternoon on the deck centred around friends, food and wine.
Guests enjoyed five house-cooked courses paired with estate wines in a relaxed setting overlooking the vineyard.
For the occasion, Cellar Door Manager Stephen also stepped into the kitchen and wore his chef’s hat for the afternoon.
