Tucked away on Spring Lane in the Yarra Valley, Helen & Joey Estate is a Yarra Valley winery that has spent over a decade building an esteemed wine portfolio.
Today, this celebrated Yarra Valley winery spans 200 acres and is home to four distinct brands: Unicorn, Wayward Child, Re’em, and Alicorn. Each of these labels showcases aromatic, fruit-forward wines. Whether crafted through intuition, precise control, or a thoughtful blend of both, the result is a unique expression of style and character. Together, these methods reflect the estate’s diverse winemaking philosophies. As a result, there’s something to suit every palate at Helen & Joey Estate.
A new chapter has begun at Helen & Joey Estate with the launch of Re’em Yarra Valley. This exciting addition includes a brand-new restaurant and 16 boutique rooms, further cementing the estate as a premier wine tourism destination.
The restaurant is led by the head chef Abe Yang (TarraWarra Estate & Levantine Hill) and culinary consultant Mark Ebbels (formerly of The Fat Duck, Bacchanalia,, and TarraWarra Estate).
With a menu that seamlessly blends Helen & Joey’s Chinese heritage and premium seasonal Australian produce, it offers a dining experience unlike any other.
At Re’em Yarra Valley, our story is rooted in the rich cultural heritage of our founders, Helen and Joey. Originally, they are from Yiwu and Sichuan, China. As a result, their unique perspective influences every aspect of what we do. By drawing from their backgrounds, they reimagined the intersection of Australian and Chinese cuisines. Rather than focusing on traditional Chinese food or classic Australian fare, they aimed to do something new. Instead, they created a fresh culinary identity. It’s a journey shaped by personal experiences, shared passions, and a blend of two vibrant traditions.
Cuisine is always evolving, shaped by a long history of cultural exchange and migration. At Re’em Yarra Valley, we embrace this evolution. We blend flavours and techniques from both Australian and Chinese traditions. This thoughtful fusion reflects an ongoing dialogue between cultures. Our menu is crafted with care and deep respect. We honour both the ingredients and the stories behind each dish.
Under the expert guidance of Consultant Executive Chef Mark Ebbels and Head Chef Abe Yang, tradition meets innovation. They work in harmony to craft a menu that honours Helen and Joey’s heritage. At the same time, they push the boundaries of modern cuisine. Each dish, shaped through collaboration, expresses cultural identity and creative exploration.
We invite you to begin this culinary journey with us. Every bite tells a story of heritage and cultural intersection. Whether you’re familiar with Chinese or Australian cuisines—or simply curious—Re’em Yarra Valley offers something new. With every plate, you’ll discover a unique blend of flavour and tradition.
